Peg Cherre - Second Wind Weaving
Medium(s): Fiber
Summary/Artist Statement:
I do all my weaving on vintage looms, most often choosing to use one that was lovingly handmade in the 1940s. The interplay of fiber and color, weaving pattern and tightness of weave, create scarves, shawls, baby blankets and table linens that won't be found elsewhere. All my handwovens are designed for softness and drape, as well as eye appeal. My fiber choices include everything from warm woolens to lacy cottons, cozy chenilles to light-as-air cashmere and silk. In addition to the work that's available on my website or at a show, I'm always happy to do custom weaving, making a scarf, shawl, blanket, or table linens in the colors, fibers, and patterns you choose. All my weaving has been made with great attention to detail -- all pieces are hand-hemmed on the loom, fringes are finished for long wear, and selvedges are worked to be straight and true. Each piece comes packaged in a handmade bag, complete with care instructions. I may be quite a ride from the city of Buffalo, but it will be worth the visit!
