Medium(s): Glass
Summary/Artist Statement:
Carol Kardaman and Kathy Klepp started a partnership called K’s Glassy Kreations as of April 2006.Both Carol Kardaman and Kathy Klepp are Buffalo New York natives.
Kathy has been working in glass for around 19 years; Mosaic, Stain and Fused Glass: Carol has been dabbling in glass for around 16 years; Stain and Fused Glass. We’ve both attended class from a number of teachers through the years, as well attend class at the Las Vegas Glass Expo in 2006 and 2008.
We have both been working in the art and decided to start our partnership. Four years now and we are going strong.
We make a variety of items using glass.
These items are fused or slumped in a glass kiln. We cut and grind selected glass into various shapes and sizes, depending on what item we are creating.
Once the item is pieced together it is placed into the kiln to be fired. Depending on the desired texture, it could be tack (temperature approximately 1225), slumped (temperature approximately 1325) and full fused (temperature approximately 1450). Some pieces like the Oil Lamps and plates require multiply firings to achieve the desired results. This is basically our process for our art work.
Other items that we design are: Picture frames, wind chimes, candle holders and sun catchers.
