ZGM Fine Arts proudly announces our latest exhibit: the three dimensional paintings of Matthew Weaver. Mr. Weaver lives and works in New York City and has been professionally active since 1984, when he received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Illinois. His complex and colorful paintings are each produced over a long period of time and are characterized by layers of color pattern and line combined with collage of letters, articles, photographs, and other items from everyday life. Messages and echoes from his life and from our shared lives emerge and submerge in his lively canvases, which are covered front, sides, and reverse.
Matthew Weavers work has been widely exhibited across the United States, and in The Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland. His work is included in many private collections, and in the collection of The Cincinnati Art Museum. He has had residencies at The Yaddo Artist’s Community, among others, and his work has been published in Ploughshares , and appears on the cover of Picking & Choosing: Essays on Prose, by Pulitzer Prize winning poet Carolyn Kizer.
An opening reception with the artist will be held on Saturday, October 2, from 6PM to 9PM, including music and refreshments.
